When you or an immediate family member isn’t well, you can take paid sick leave until you’re able to return to work. Your sick pay benefits reflect where you work and whether you’re an exempt or a non-exempt employee.
California Employees

- You earn one hour of sick pay for every 30 hours you work, up to an annual maximum of 80 hours.
- Any sick time you don’t use must roll over to the next year, per California law.

- You receive 48 hours of paid sick time every January 1, to be used over the course of the year.
- You can use your sick time immediately upon your date of hire.

When Sick Time Isn’t Enough
You’re also covered for those times when you need to be away from work for an extended period.
Disability Pay
Disability coverage protects you and your family by providing income replacement payments when you’re unable to work for an extended period as a result of illness, injury, or childbirth. You’re automatically enrolled in Basic Short-Term and Long-Term Disability coverage on your first day of work.
Your disability benefits reflect whether or not you joined Seagate through an acquisition and where you work.

- Eligibility: All regular employees are eligible.
- Benefit Amount: 60% of your regular pay, up to a maximum weekly benefit of $1,620.*
- Taxability: Not taxable.
- Cost: 0.9% of your pay, up to an annual maximum contribution of $1,378.48.
* If you earn less than one-third of the California average quarterly wage, you’ll receive 70% of your regular pay.
Supplemental Short-Term Disability
- Eligibility: Your salary must be more than $153,164.
- Benefit Amount: 60% of regular pay when combined with Basic Short-Term Disability.
- Taxability: Not taxable.

- Subtract $153,164 from your annual salary.
- Multiply by 0.0012.
- Divide by 26 (pay periods).
